The 2014 Virginian-Pilot Spelling Bee LIVE on WHRO

WHRO hosted The 2014 Virginian-Pilot Spelling Bee on Saturday, February 22nd, as 45 of the area’s finest middle school spellers competed for this year’s title.  The Bee was broadcast live from WHRO’s studio at 2:00 p.m. while the spellers’ family members and teacher sponsors watched anxiously from our Teleconference Center.

Calling All Creative Young Minds: Enter The 2014 PBS Kids Writers Contest!



Calling all creative young minds: the 2014 PBS Kids Writers Contest officially kicks off in January!  This contest congratulates local students in grades K through 5 for writing and illustrating their own original stories, and cultivates a love for reading and writing in children through their imaginations.
