2013 Community Impact Awards

Do you know someone who is making a significant difference in your community? A person, organization or business that is having a positive impact on the lives of those around them?

Dominion Virginia Power and WHRO are partnering once again to recognize our community’s unsung heroes with the 5th Annual Community Impact Awards. We want to honor people or organizations that work at the grassroots level; people who are, generally, under-appreciated for the selfless work they willingly do to help others.

WHRO is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Community Impact Awards. We’re asking you to help us honor our unsung heroes by nominating a person or organization that is making a real difference in our community. There are five categories we want to recognize – Environment, Education, Health and Public Safety, Regionalism and Social Justice. One honoree will be chosen in each category to receive a $1,000 award for the charity of his or her choice. Winners will be recognized May 16, 2013 at a luncheon at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott.

To receive a copy of the official nomination form, please click here, or contact Laura Payne, Special Events Manager, at (757) 889-9419 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Deadline for nomination submission is 5pm on February 1, 2013.
